Primary Academy

Welcome

Welcome from the Principal - Mrs Hannah Robinson-Jaques

A very warm welcome to Wantage Primary Academy (WPA).  We are so looking forward to working with you and your children when you join our school.  I am very proud to be the Principal of this school.

At Wantage Primary Academy, our aim is to recognise and nurture each child's individual talents and to build a school community of kind, socially responsible young people.  We want pupils at Wantage to have memorable, lifelong learning experiences. Children will be immersed in a learning environment that will equip them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.  They will learn to be resilient and creative, and we will support them to develop a growth mindset.  They will learn that struggle and challenge are vital parts of the learning process and will be able to cope with, and adapt to, change.  They will access a broad and rich curriculum and have a wealth of exciting hands on experiences to foster their natural curiosity, instilling in them a life-long love of learning. This will start right from our nursery class and continue into Year 6.

In addition to this, pupils and their families will be welcomed into a very special community.  We understand that working closely with parents and carers is key to supporting children to meet their potential, and we are keen to engage you in every step of your child's learning journey with us. There are multiple opportunities to get involved in school life as we continue to forge a strong relationship with our local community.

Our ethos at Wantage Primary Academy is firmly rooted in our desire and determination to provide the best opportunities for all pupils. We will offer:

  • A place of discovery and wonder, full of happy, inquisitive children, who love learning and who are determined to do their best and try new things.
  • A place where we pursue high academic standards but also provide a well-balanced education, where children are given an opportunity to discover talents across the whole curriculum including in core-subjects as well as STEM, the arts, PE & sport and languages.
  • A place where aspiration is key: every child will be encouraged and given their chance to shine regardless of ability or circumstance. Mistakes are welcomed as opportunities for new learning and understanding.
  • A place where learning is for all: our parents, carers and community are welcome as our key learning partners in enabling children and families to flourish.

As a trust, OLT has a proven track record of high-standards and high-quality teaching and learning. We work collaboratively with other schools in the Omnia Learning Trust, sharing practice and resources, however, our school itself retains its autonomy and uniqueness.

I hope you find the information on this website useful in giving a flavour of our fabulous school, but this does not replicate a visit!  I would love to be able to show you around our fantastic facilities and let you experience the wonderful ethos of inspiration, challenge, creativity and nurture which typifies WPA and makes our school so special.

I look forward to meeting you all soon.
