Oxenwood Outdoor Education Centre - 2024

Day one

After a short and rainy journey, we arrived at Oxenwood to meet our instructors Mo and Laura. They gave us a brief tour and showed us the important parts of the centre before we settled into our rooms.

Once we had unpacked we had lunch before heading out on our walk to a Hillfort. It was very rainy but this didn't 'dampen' our spirits. We had lots of fun walking through muddy puddles, up hills, over fences, fossil hunting and avoiding cowpats!

After an amazing dinner of pizza, chips and beans we heading into the darkness for a night walk. We came back a bit wet and muddy but proud of our achievements for the day. We definitely got our steps in for the day, Mrs Gladwin clocked up 30,000 steps!!!

Day two

We had an early start, with breakfast at 8am, before we headed out for a day of activities. We split into two groups with half the group getting in the minibus to the river to do some water sports, whilst the other half stayed at base and did archery and orienteering.

After the first activity, we headed back for lunch before carrying out our second activity of either archery or water sports. We finished our day on the climbing wall. We were all truly amazing by the all the children's determination and resilience to 'have a go' even if they were unsure.

After a tasty dinner of sausage and cheesy mash, the children had some free time before having a movie night.
